Shopaholic Abroad

Shopaholic Abroad is one of the books in the Shopaholic series. It is an adventure novel with a lot of love. It is written by Sophie Kinsella (to the left) and follows the story of Becky Bloomwooed and everything her life does to her, through good and bad.

Life is really good for Becky Bloomwood. She has a boyfriend named Luke and a job she loves giving financial advice on the TV show "Morning Coffee". She has a good relationship with her bank manager, Derek Smith, but when he retires and her boyfriend Luke wants to make his company big in New York, big changes are in store for Becky.

Becky is living her fabulous life in New York with Luke and loves all the new stores she discovers everyday. Becky is spending a lot of money, but isn't seeing  any problems ahead because of her safe and secure job at Morning Coffee and also she has a new book coming out. But then the unthinkable thing happens. She wakes up like she always does and goes out to get her paper. When she opens the "Daily World" her name is all over the paper. There is a big photo and an article which reveals her high debts and calls her a frog for having so much problems financially while giving other people advice on how to manage their money. This causes several problems for Becky, and especially the starting fight between her and Luke is affecting her extremely.

The reason why their relationships almost breaks is because the Bank of London is Luke's company's biggest client, and rumors are starting that he will lose them as clients because of Becky's secret financial situation. Not only is there problems in her relationship, but also Morning Coffee are firing her from her job. She can't take it anymore and returns home to her roommate and best friends Suze, while Luke stays in New York and their relationship comes to an apparent end. Becky becomes depressed and her friend Suze is trying everything to make her happier, but nothing works. Until one day.

Becky has been shopping her entire life and has a million different things she never have worn or even looked at after she brought it home from the store. She therefore decides to sell all the things she has and decides that she wants to move back to the U.S and start to work on Barney's. Before she does that she goes to Luke's office in London to pick up a package for her delivered there. When she walks into his office she overhears a conversation between two of Luke's employees.  She discovers that the two of them are planning to steal all of Luke's clients and start up on their own. She doesn't want to talk to Luke but she contacts his colleague and tells him everything.

When that's done she is heading of to the airport to move to New York and start a new life. At the airport, Luke turns up and say that he knows it all because Michael have told him everything. He begs her to stay and work at his company, Becky tells him that she doesn't want to settle down at a job she doesn't want, and leaves him for New York.

Some time later, Becky is working as a personal shopper at Barney's, when Luke shows up as a costumer and apologizes for everything. Will they maybe end up together again?
