Roald Dahl's "Lamb to the Slaughter"

After we read the short story and saw the short film we had to write two questions each. I am now going to answer to of the questions who have been asked, from my point of view.

Why was it so smart to let the policemen eat the lamb?

It was extremely smart to let them eat the lamb because without them having any clue, they ate up all the evidence, murder weapon and clues that could lead back to Mrs. Maloney as a murderer.

How would you describe Mary Maloney as a person?

I think Mary is a very hard-trying person. She really wants the perfect marriage and both gives and does everything for her husband. The rutine is the same every single day. She opens the door for him, kisses him, makes him food and so on. She was in my eyes like Bree van de Kamp from the tv-show Desperate Housewives if you ever have seen it. She was a person full of love, but as everything becomes a rutine, it is hard to see the love and kindness behind every action.

  1. She does seem like a person who works hard for her husband. And in the short story I get the feeling that she really loves him. And that it comes as a great surprise to her, what he has to say. But in the short story we never know what it is. We have to guess.
