How do the debaters prepare for debates?
Before every debate, the debaters prepared themselves by checking out every possible information about their subject. They also had to agree which way they wanted to start their debate, but they seemed to have a hard time agreeing. Before the last debate, we saw them prepare as they have never done before. They argued and were mad, but finally they found a solution and won the debate.
Who is the main character?
The main characters were of course the debaters and their teacher. The debaters were:
Henry Lowe - played by Nate Parker
Samantha Booke -played by Jurnee Smollett
James Farmer Jr. - playes by Denzel Withtaker
And their teacher Melvin B. Tolson played by Denzel Washington.

It takes a lot of research to win a debate. That became apparent in this movie. Instead of saying who the main characters were you might have describe them and written about who they were portraying since the movie is based on a true story.
